Downtown Pleasant Hill

Goal: To create a pedestrian scale mixed-use downtown for a suburban community.

Challenges: Assembly of in excess of 50 independently owned parcels through both direct purchase and eminent domain. Relocation of both residential and commercial occupants and users. Environmental remediation on numerous parcels. Creating a public improvement program and associated bond financing. Designing a new multi building project which provides for a multitude of architectural themes while addressing the needs of the tenants.

Result: 350,000 square feet of new retail and entertainment space, 56 town homes, 120 room hotel and a 680 car parking garage. Central public plaza with sculpture fountain and pedestrian linkage to the new City Hall.
